Committed to equitable, effective education for every student — every single day.
The Juvenile Justice Center School (JJCS) is a Miami-Dade County Public School operating under the Division of Educational Opportunities (DEO). We are committed to providing an equitable and effective learning environment for all students every day.
“We Care” is our motto — and our belief — that aligns the JJCS curriculum with the Miami-Dade County Public Schools curriculum framework. We believe in sustaining a student’s academic accountability as a foundation for a successful transition to career and further education.
Our staff is committed to providing equitable and effective learning opportunities that equip our students, build necessary foundations for them, and enable them to adapt to a rigorous curriculum. We immerse our staff and stakeholders into empowering our at-risk youth — encouraging them to embrace accountability for their learning, actualize their efforts, and develop healthier attitudes regarding their emotional, physical, and social well-being.
The center serves youth under age 18 who have been referred by law enforcement or the Juvenile Justice Intake system. Youth participate in comprehensive educational and recreational programs during their time at the center. This center is also responsible for coordinating transportation of youthful offenders to court hearings.
JJCS provides an educational setting that mirrors the rigor and expectations of traditional M-DCPS schools, while tailoring instruction to meet the unique needs of each student. Our blended model combines small-group instruction with computer-based learning, allowing students to recover credits and stay on track toward graduation.
Students are held to the same M-DCPS academic standards, with personalized support to meet curriculum requirements.
Our motto isn’t just words — it drives every decision we make for our students and their futures.
Transition planning begins on day one to ensure a smooth re-entry to traditional schools upon release.
